The love of my life and dumped me, by text message of all things! We had been dating for 12 years and I thought that it would last for ever, but out of the blue I received a message. He said the passion had gone out of our relationship and he did not love me anymore. My heart was broken.

I did not know what to do, I had forgotten all about meeting people and going on dates as it has been such a long time since I had done anything like this.

My friends were real troopers and took me to all kinds of pubs and clubs that I didn't even know existed. They encouraged me to mix with people I wouldn't normally mix with because of my ex, and I did as they suggested.

I met a man that was actually younger than me, imagine that, a toyboy! We headed home and had a night of passion but the next day he just got up and left, no phone number, nothing. I couldn't believe I had just been used like that. I felt so dirty.

I sat at home, in my pjs with black mascara running down my face I logged onto the internet and searched for online dating. I decided I would meet somebody through the Internet and get to know them through email and see what my heart tells me.

I set my profile and described myself and what I was looking for. The next time I logged on I had 27 messages which I scrolled through and picked 5 that I liked the look of, I would chat to each of them and see what happens.

Two of them were very strange people indeed, proclaiming love and honour and that they wanted to marry me, they had never even met me! One of the other gentlemen seemed really genuine, willing to chat until I felt ready to meet.

By the time we met the passion for each other had built up so much we couldn't wait to get each others clothes off. In my head I was saying wait, but my heart was telling me another thing, we have been together 6 happy months now and I cant believe I wasted 12 years on my ex.
